Celebrity Profile:
Steve Cantor

Filmmaker

In 1993, Cantor earned an Academy Award nomination in the Best Documentary (Short Subjects) category for "Blood Ties: The Life and Work of Sally Mann." One of his current projects called Endsville (a mockumentary about a doomsday cult expecting the end of the world) and boasts one of the fastest growing movie websites on the net.
FinalBuzzer: How did you become interested in basketball?
Steve Cantor: I grew up a block away from a NYC playground. My father used to take me there almost every weekend. We would play one-on-one, but since I was so much shorter than him, the rule was that if I touched his stomach while he was shooting, I got the ball.

FB: Who's gonna win it all?
SC: Call me crazy, but I like UConn repeating. I think Khalid is a great leader when it counts the most. Second choice is Stanford, who don't get my vote because they should be called the Cardinals. That singular shit is pretentious.

FB: Any teams you don't like?
SC: I never liked Syracuse. And never liked any of the pros who went there. Same for Georgetown - - though I do love Pat. And I never liked NC State.

FB: Any players you're looking forward to watching?
SC: Juan Dixon.

FB: Would you consider yourself more of a 3-point shooter or slam-dunker, in figurative terms?
SC: In figurative terms I am more of a slam-dunker, though in literal terms I can slam dunk (I may be white and Jewish, but I'm 6'5") but prefer to stay out of the fray and play shooting guard.

FB: Do you remember the first time you dunked on a 10' goal?
SC: In sixth grade we had a low hoop to practice on. I never enjoyed it that much because it felt like cheating - kind of like screwing a blow-up doll and claiming you lost your virginity. Besides, I had my sights set on the real rim and a ridiculous growth spurt soon helped my cause. (But was hell on my effort to lose my virginity).

FB: Is there any actor you've worked with that has beaten you in a game of one on one? Are there any that should bother trying?
SC: I'm 6'5" which makes me pretty much unguardable by most actors who are on average about 4'11" so no.

FB: How are [Endsville producter/co-writer Daniel] Laikind's hops?
SC: He hops well, but can't really jump. Actually he is an outstanding foul-shooter.
